ARCHA was founded in 1989 with the aim of creating a laboratory capable of combining scientific expertise, analytical rigor and industrial application capacity. Over the years, the structure has evolved to become a multidisciplinary center that integrates analytical activities, applied research and technological development. Today ARCHA represents a point of reference for companies, public bodies and research organizations operating in the fields of environment, materials and sustainability.
Our multidisciplinary team of chemists, biologists, engineers and materials specialists work together to generate reliable data and robust technical interpretations that are useful for product development, environmental performance verification and industrial innovation processes. We follow the life cycle of materials and products along all its phases: from the characterization of raw materials and environmental matrices, to the study of the behavior of materials at the end of their life. By integrating accredited laboratory analyses, biodegradability tests, sustainability studies, and R&D, we transform complex problems into clear and actionable scientific information. This approach makes it possible to link analysis, research and industrial application, providing useful data and knowledge for technical decisions, certification processes and the development of sustainable solutions.
Analytical laboratory for environmental & industrial samples
Characterisation of materials, waste and complex matrices
Biodegradability & compostability testing of plastics and bioplastics
Applied research, technology development & innovation projects
Training, consulting & digital solutions for laboratories and quality
Supporting industry, environment and research.
Recognised & Certified by Leading Accreditation and Certification Bodies.
Since 1989, ARCHA has been supporting companies, public bodies and research institutions in turning scientific questions into practical answers. From our base in Pisa, we combine accredited laboratory work with applied research and technology development.
Our ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratories perform environmental and industrial analyses, biodegradability and compostability testing, and advanced characterisation of materials and waste. As a research centre recognised by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, we also design and run innovation projects on new materials, processes and sustainable solutions.
This combination of accredited testing, research and technical consulting provides the solid, traceable evidence our clients need for regulatory compliance, innovation, product development and long-term sustainability strategies.
Our Areas of Expertise
Laboratory Analysis
Chemical, biological and characterization analyses of environmental matrices, materials and industrial samples performed in accredited laboratories with validated methods and advanced scientific instrumentation.
Material & Waste Characterisation
Study and characterization of materials, waste and complex matrices to understand their composition, performance and technical or environmental implications.
Biodegradability & Compostability Testing
Scientific tests on plastics, bioplastics and innovative materials to evaluate the behavior in different degradation environments according to European and international standards.
Research & Innovation Projects
Applied research and technological development activities dedicated to new materials, industrial processes and sustainability-oriented solutions.
Scientific Consulting & Technical Support
Scientific advice and technical support to interpret analytical data, address regulatory requirements and accompany the development of materials, products and technologies.
Our Vision
We believe in a future in which technological innovation and sustainability can move forward together.Scientific research is the tool to make this evolution concrete, providing companies with reliable data, more efficient technologies and environmentally friendly materials.
ARCHA works every day to contribute to this path.
Multidisciplinary People Behind ARCHA.
At ARCHA, laboratories and instrumentation are a fundamental part of the work, but the real value lies in the people who design the studies, conduct the tests and interpret the results. Our team brings together professionals with different scientific and technical skills, chemists, biologists, engineers and materials specialists who collaborate to tackle complex analytical and research problems. What unites them is a shared approach based on scientific rigor, critical ability in interpreting data and attention to the development of sustainability-oriented solutions.

What is ARCHA?
ARCHA Srl is an analysis laboratory and research centre based in Pisa, Italy. We operate ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratories for chemical, physical and microbiological testing and are recognised by the Italian Ministry of University and Research as a qualified research lab.
Who do you work with?
We support industrial companies, SMEs, public bodies, consortia and research institutions. Our projects range from single accredited analyses to long-term research, innovation and sustainability programmes.
Do you only work in Italy?
No. While our main facilities are in Pisa and other Italian locations, we regularly work with clients from across Europe and beyond, especially for biodegradability and compostability testing and research projects.
Are your test reports accepted by authorities and certification bodies?
Yes. Our laboratories follow ISO/IEC 17025 and recognised national and international standards. Reports are structured so they can be used with regulators, certification schemes and internal audits.
Do you offer more than laboratory testing?
Yes. In addition to analyses, we provide applied research, technology development, consulting, training and software solutions (LIMS). This allows us to support clients from the first idea through to implementation and verification.
